Distributed under the banner of Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt’s Vishesh Films, Ya Rab, directed by Hasnain Hyderadwala had a tough time getting the film passed by the Censor board because of the content of the film.
The film is based on Islam, and shows the battle between two factions, one that propounds harmony and tolerance, while the other faction that believes in violence.
Mahesh Bhatt said, “The film has been finally passed with an U/A certificate, but we had to face a lot of problems with the Censors. The examining committee (of Central Board of Film Certification) refused to see the film and give it the certificate that we wanted. We wanted U/A certificate for the film, but they were not willing to do so unless some cuts were done. The revising committee developed cold feet. So we later had to go to the Tribunal to seek the certificate.”
Ya Rab stars, Bigg Boss contestant Ajaz Khan, Arjumman Mughal, Raju Kher and Vikram Singh, will release on February 7.
