If you thought the Oscar selfie featuring stalwarts from Hollywood was the only one that took the cake this year, think again. A bevy of Bollywood stars can’t get enough of using their mobile phone’s front camera to capture a moment, be it in the gym, kitchen, vanity van or even ahem, on their bed. Ever since the word selfie was inducted in the Oxford dictionary in 2013 and was announced as word of the year by them, celebrities across the globe have been bitten by the bug and back home, our Bollywood celebs are making sure that their Instagram and Twitter accounts are filled with different versions of the selfie. If you closely monitor the timeline of your favourite stars, chances are that you will end up discovering a lot about their lifestyle and personality through these selfies. Here’s a sneak peek into the world of star selfies.
Family time
Although she loves clicking selfies in the car, actress Priyanka Chopra loves her family and doesn’t miss a single opportunity to capture a picture along with the members of her menage. On several occasions, Chopra, who is extremely active across all social media platforms, has clicked selfies with her mother, grand mom and brother. The same goes for the Bachchan family, with both Amitabh Bachchan and son Abhishek posting charming selfies which show moments where the family members have bonded over conversations, gadget talk or just a simple pose outside the polling booth.
Vanity fair
Getting red carpet ready maybe a priority, but not without a selfie. Clicking a picture while getting ready for an event ensures that the actors show off their best dressed (and dolled up) side. Again, Sonam leads with her in between shoot or vanity van selfies, where she proudly shows off her flawless face and luxury apparel. Even Sonakshi Sinha and Priyanka Chopra can’t get enough of experimenting with hairstyles and asking their fans if the lipstick colour suits them, in between during shoots.
Promotional stint
What’s an Instagram or Twitter account without promoting your upcoming film? They are all a part of the showbiz, after all. Quirky poses with co-stars and pouting with fans in a belfie (known as bollywood selfie), Alia Bhatt has done it all during the promotions of her last release, 2 States. So much so, that she didn’t even spare Arjun Kapoor, who prefers to stay away from social media. Varun Dhawan too doesn’t leave a single opportunity to make a fan’s dream come true, as at an event, the actor confessed that he loves clicking selfies with them. Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Chopra among others have had their belfie moments during promotional events as well. With so many selfies coming their way, we are sure that the fans couldn’t have asked for more.
Fitness first
For some, the golden hour or two at the gym means everything. Come rain, snow or sunshine, actors like Hrithik Roshan can’t go without pumping iron and following their daily workout routine. And what better than comparing your progress by clicking selfies after every session, right? Roshan has been known to have one of the best bodies in the business and his philosophical tweets posted with gym selfies (known as Gylfies) are inspirational enough for those who aspire to be like him. On the other hand, Shahid Kapoor prefers to keep it cool with a pair of dr.dre beats headphones while working out, as he is known to stay away from conversations in the gym and prefers to focus on his routine. But, that doesn’t mean he can’t take a selfie to flaunt his biceps in an empty.
Pet loving
Who said selfies only include human beings? The pelfies have officially arrived and they include a man’s best friend – their pet. One look at Alia Bhatt’s timeline and you can tell that she absolutely swears by her persian cat. Even Sonam Kapoor bonds with her doggie quite often and these moments make it to her Instagram page.
Rajinikanth’s Twitter debut creates a frenzy
When superstar Rajinikanth does something, he does it in style. Ahead of his upcoming release Kochaiidayaan, the legendary actor made his Twitter debut last week with @superstarrajini as his handle. As expected, his arrival created a frenzy on the social media platform.
