When was the company Film Polska established and what are its goals?
Film Polska was established in 2010 with the aim to producing and line producing quality content for international market.
Is it a government aided initiative? Are you making any special offers for films crews around the world to associate with you when shooting in Poland?
Film Polska was established as a private company by Krzysztof Solek and Maciej Zemojcin. The company offers technical expertise and an opportunity for making quality films within a reasonable budget. Even though there are no incentives in Poland, Film Polska in connection, with local bodies such as Film Commission Poland and governments of different cities and regions, Polish Tourism Board and various vendors, creates interesting packages for producers ( including location discounts, deals etc).
What sort of support do you offer for films as different from ads?
FIlm Polska can help in all types of production and projects. As for advertising, most of the time it is straight forward line production. For films, we take into account the offers coming our way, including those from our partners.
What are the terms and conditions for those who want to shoot in Poland. Are there any pre-requisites, for instance, the technical crew should be local etc?
No rules or conditions apply here. Except for light technicians who require local permit to handle high voltage. They could work together with Polish crew, without handling the electricity. But, most of the time, we have foreign technicians working with the locales. If required, technicians and other facilities can also be sources locally.
Poland with its long history of film-making has the best technicians in Europe. Every year, talented directors of photography pass out from the Polish Film School.
Over the last five years, how many Hindi films have been shot in Poland in collaboration with you?
We are a four year old company. Film Polska has helped in the cinematography of three feature films from India, one TV series and done around 40 TV.
Do you also offer tax benefits?
In the present scenario, the VAT of 23 per cent is not applicable to foreign producers. Poland is working towards providing tax benefits to film-makers. Our company is actively involved in advising and lobbying for these benefits.
Has the Hindi film industry benefitted the service/tourism industry in your country in a significant manner in the last 10 years?
We have not undertaken a study that would throw light on what percentage the Hindi film industry has helped in aiding tourism in Poland. Now, that Kick has released, we shall have a fair idea on the impact that the film has had on tourism.
Which countries in Europe do you see as potential competitors?
Poland is one of the least discovered countries in Europe and has no competitors really. May be Romania and Croatia— but again those countries have different locations and the infrastructure too is not as good as that offered in Poland.
