To play Shivaji Maharaj’s commander-in-chief

“I’ve always loved doing roles which frighten me as to how am I going to do it!! Natarang was a perfect example. I am must confess that this role and the script has challenged me the most so far,” said versatile actor Atul Kulkarni, who is to play the role of Shivaji Maharaj’s commander-in-chief Prataprao Gujar, in an historical action film titled Saat.
When asked about his look in the Marathi film, the actor while refusing to divulge more, said, “It’s a huge project. Lots and lots of preparation would go into it and I guess it will be only right to talk about the details at the right time.”
To be made under DAR Motion Pictures, IME Motion Pictures and Blue Drop Films, it is to be produced by Arun Rangachari, Vivek Rangachari, Suhrud Godbole and Nikhil Mahajan. Written by Nikhil Mahajan, it will be directed by Ashish Bende, who has been an associate director of some acclaimed Marathi films like Harishchandrachi Factory, Shala, Masala, Pune 52, Elizabeth Ekadashi and Baji that is set to release in 2015..
The film will be based on true events in the life of Shivaji Maharaj and encapsulates the inspiring, true story of Prataprao Gujar, the commander-in-chief of Shivaji Maharaj’s army and his six trusted men who fought valiantly for their king and pride.
