Legendary Tamil music composer M. S. Viswanathan recovering

“Now he is recovering and is fine. However he continues to be in the ICU and doctors have advised that he should be in the intensive care for about a week,” Viswanathan’s son Gopi told PTI.

He said his father was being treated for geriatric disorders, but declined to elaborate.

“MSV,” a household name in Tamil Nadu, has scored music for hundreds of films, including Tamil and other languages and his association with iconic lyricist of yesteryear “Kaviyarasu” Kannadasan is legendary in giving evergreen songs.

His brilliant partnership with Ramamurthy, also a music composer, is historic as the duo produced super hit songs. Together they had the famous creditline of “Viswanathan-Ramamurthy.”

“Sonnathu Needhana” (Nenjil Oru Alayam), “Viswanathan Velai Vendum” (Kadalikka Neram Illai), “Kettavarellam Padalam” (Thangai) are among MSV’s all time favourites that are still popular in Tamil Nadu.

Viswanathan’s journey began with Panam (Tamil, 1952) and his career graph continued to be on the rise for decades after that.
