Even in its fourth week of release, Rishab Shetty‘s Kantara: Chapter 1 refuses to slow down and continues its magnificent run at the box office, breaking record after record. On the 25th day of its release (Sunday), the film collected Rs 10 crore at the box office, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 589.20 crore — just Rs 11 crore shy of reaching the Rs 600 crore mark in India.

Kantara dethrones Chhaava

Rishab’s film minted Rs 337.4 crore after its first week of release, followed by Rs 147.85 crore and Rs 78.85 crore in the third week. During its fourth weekend, the film saw a 47% increase in its collection, minting Rs 9 crore on Saturday, of which a substantial Rs 4.85 crore came from the Hindi version — even surpassing the Kannada version’s Rs 2.85 crore. The film witnessed a further increase of 14 % on Sunday, on the eve of Chhath Puja, as it garnered Rs 10 crore.

Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 recorded an overall 40.51% Kannada occupancy on Sunday, along with 26.50% Telugu occupancy, 35.72% Hindi occupancy, 49.24% Tamil occupancy, and 24.81% Malayalam occupancy.

At the worldwide box office, Rishab Shetty’s film has dethroned Chhaava to become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. Chhaava had minted Rs 807.91 crore globally, making it the year’s top-grossing film until now. Rishab’s Kantara: Chapter 1 has surpassed it by collecting Rs 818 crore worldwide, according to the makers.

Kantara’s Hindi record

The Rishab Shetty directorial has enjoyed a dream run at the box office and has catapulted into a true pan-India blockbuster. The film became the first South Indian release of the year to enter the Rs 200 crore net club in Hindi. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, in a post on X, stated, “#KantaraChapter1 crosses the ₹ 200 cr milestone…⭐️ Emerges as the third highest-grossing film of 2025 [#Hindi version], after #Chhaava and #Saiyaara.⭐️ It is also the third film this year to enter the ₹ 200 cr club, joining #Chhaava and #Saiyaara.”

Kantara OTT release

The makers have teased Kantara: Chapter 1’s upcoming OTT release, which will reportedly premiere on Prime Video. The official handle of the streaming platform dropped a new poster on X (formerly Twitter), showcasing Rishab’s fierce, divine avatar from the film. The tagline of the post reads, “The legend continues to become legendary.” While the platform hasn’t directly announced Kantara: Chapter 1’s release date, fans are taking this as a strong hint that the film will arrive on the platform soon.
