Budding Kannada film actor Suraj Kumar’s right leg was amputated after he met with an accident in Gundlupet taluk of Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district on Saturday. Doctors have amputated his leg below the knee to save his life. Suraj Kumar alias Dhruvan, 24, son of film producer S A Srinivas, was riding a two-wheeler when he hit a tipper lorry. Suraj has previously worked as an assistant director in movies like Airavatha and Tharak. A police officer said, “Suraj was returning from Ooty on his bike. His right leg came under the wheels of a tipper lorry and was totally crushed. Kannada star Darshan launched the film, which was later shelved for reasons unknown. The actor was working on another film, titled Ratham. He had also signed a yet-untitled project with Priya Prakash Varrier, but the fate of the film is unknown. Actor Shivarajkumar visited Suraj at the hospital on Sunday. The Begur police registered a case against the driver of the tipper and arrested him. The 24-year-old actor is also related to the Kannada superstar Dr Rajkumar. Suraj is the nephew of the legendary actor’s wife Parvathamma.
