Telugu film Janatha Garage, which stars Jr NTR and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is having a terrific run at the box office. Koratala Siva-directed bilingual film Janatha Garage hit the screens on Thursday (September 1), raked in an estimated Rs. 21 crore from Andhra and Telangana on the first day of its release.
The film also did outstanding business in the US. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Telugu film #JanathaGarage – USA: Wed + Thu $ 737,745, Fri $ 216,405, Sat $ 275,501. Total: $ 1,229,651 [₹ 8.19 cr]. OUTSTANDING! @Rentrak.”
After registering an earth-shattering opening, the Junior NTR-starrer pulled the audience to the theatre in decent numbers on its second day and crossed Rs. 50-crore mark at the global box office. Junior NTR’s Janatha Garage has created a history by becoming the third biggest opener of South India by earning Rs. 41 crore.
The bilingual movie is now next only to Rajinikanth’s Kabali and SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali, which had collected Rs 87.5 crore and Rs 73 crore, respectively.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collections the film made in the USA. The film that opened with a phenomenal Rs 3.76 crore, despite midweek release on Wednesday (August 31), earned Rs 4.92 crore on Thursday.
Well the film seems to be rock steady at the box office all over but it’s overall collections cannot be verified. But this Junior NTR film is a hit, rather superhit for sure.
The combination of big names like Junior NTR, Mohanlal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Koratala Siva and Devi Sri Prasad had created a lot of hype and expectations about the film much before the release of the film. The film is said to be made on a budget of Rs 40 crore.
