Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been sentenced to four years and two months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, after being convicted on two prostitution-related offenses. He was also fined USD 500,000. The verdict was delivered by Arun Srinivas Subramanian, an Indian-origin United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York. Born in Pittsburgh to a Tamil family that immigrated from India, Arun Subramanian took quite an interesting path to his seat in the legal system of the country. He got his Bachelor of Arts degree from Case Western Reserve University before getting his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law College, New York. His father worked as a control systems engineer in India, and his mother worked as a bookkeeper. However, his clerkship for the highly respected Ruth Bader Ginsberg shines more than anything else on his resume. Ginsburg was only the second female associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States after Sandra Day O’Connor. He was recommended for his current position in 2022 and was nominated by former president Joe Biden. He was re-nominated in 2023. Arun was looking after the Diddy case since May and has even threatened to throw the producer out of the court for not following the proper etiquette of the courtroom. He had also denied bail to Diddy, stating that he saw no fit reason for releasing him before his sentencing. The producer wanted to be released because he felt threatened at the Metropolitan Detention Center, but Arun argued that the jail staff has kept him safe and shall continue to do so. According to NBC, the trial will begin in the US at 9:30 am (EST).
