Travis Kelce slapped in face, mocked with Taylor Swift pun by LA Chargers’ Teair Tart; Swifties slam: ‘Can’t wait for that karma’
During the Chiefs vs Chargers game in Brazil, Teair Tart slapped Travis Kelce. The refs penalized Tart but didn’t eject him.

During the third quarter of a Kansas City Chiefs vs Los Angeles Chargers game in Brazil, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce got slapped in the face by Chargers defensive tackle Teair Tart. This was Kelce’s first game post his engagement with pop star Taylor Swift. The incident happened right after Patrick Mahomes led a touchdown and running back Kareem Hunt’s two-yard run. During the process, Kelce likely shoved Tart, and in response, Tart slapped the front of Kelce’s helmet.

The moment caught on camera showed Kelce reacting immediately, throwing his hands up in shock. Later, the referees called a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty on Tart, but refused to eject him for his violent move. According to the NFL rules expert Terry McAulay, who spoke to USA Today, Tart was let go because it was an open-hand hit to the head, which wasn’t a disqualifying action. And because it wasn’t a punch or a closed-fist strike, it didn’t meet the standard for ejection.” The video went viral online, and Swifties rushed to demand action against the Chargers player.
However, the very next day, Tart shared a clip on Instagram seemingly trolling Kelce with Taylor Swift’s pun and celebrating the Chargers’ win. He posted a famous Chapelle’s Show skit where Rick James slaps Charlie Murphy. He captioned one post, “I’m too swift with it even in Brazil,” mocking both the Grammy winner and her fiancée while bragging about getting away with the slap.

The social media reaction was filled with Swifties and even NFL fans slamming Teair for his attitude. Many expressed disbelief that he wasn’t ejected. “Teair Tart throwing HANDS at Travis Kelce. He wasn’t ejected for this, surprisingly,” one person commented. “Jealousy at its peak,” another said. “I can’t believe the refs made Teair Tart commit that penalty,” a third chimed in. “This clearly looks like he holds some grudges and is even flaunting it on social media, getting away with it. This is problematic,” another added. “Swifties about to come for Teair Tart.”

This incident came less than two weeks after Kelce and Swift publicly announced their engagement with a joint Instagram post joking, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Kelce later shared on his podcast that it was exciting to introduce Taylor to his teammates and to celebrate the engagement publicly for the first time. Meanwhile, Teair Tart plays as a nose tackle for the Los Angeles Chargers. Born February 28, 1997, in Philadelphia, he played college football at ASA, Ellsworth CC, and FIU, then joined the NFL in 2020 with the Titans. He also played for the Texans and Dolphins before joining the Chargers
