‘Taehyung, thanks to you, I never gave up’: BTS’ V’s friend from military shares new photos, recalls beautiful memories
BTS' V's military friend shares heartfelt note and group photos, recalling beautiful memories from their time together.

BTS fans just got a visual treat after one of the fellow soldiers serving in SDT alongside Kim Taehyung aka V, shared a bunch of group photographs on social media, bringing back beautiful memories from their time together in the service. This military friend of V also penned a heartfelt note dedicated to the Winter Bear crooner, revealing how V’s passion and dedication inspired him throughout their time in the military. The note also gave a special shoutout to V’s recent military achievements, including taking first place in winter city training and full-arm shooting, and even receiving a Military Police Exemplary Award despite sustaining injuries.
BTS’ V’s military friend drops new group photos
V enlisted for his mandatory military service in December 2023 alongside BTS’ leader, Kim Namjoon. However, unlike other members of the group who underwent the usual recommended training for citizens, Taehyung chose the Special Duty Team, which focuses on counter-terrorism, and has since kept a low profile on his social media activities. Now, with one of his friends completing his training and returning home, fans got a rare update on Taehyung’s whereabouts in the unit.

In one photo, Taehyung is seen wearing a mask, though his facial features are still enough for fans to spot him even in a crowd of thousands. In another picture, the group is seen in a forest, possibly during their training. In the next one, he strikes a goofy pose for selfies, flashing his iconic smile. The following photo of him in a black uniform definitely won hearts, followed by pictures of the group catching brunch, taking solo walks, and more. This long-awaited update, combined with the excitement of nearing discharge date, has fans on cloud nine.
His comment section instantly got flooded with reactions. A user wrote, “There are many of us who will thank you from the bottom of our hearts for leaving us these photographs, but above all for the kind words you dedicated to our Taehyung. I’m so proud of your hyung’s beautiful heart.” Another chimed in, “We’re truly proud of him and the entire SDT team. Please stay safe and health.” A third commented, “Thank you for being good friends for our Taehyungie.”

‘You inspired me,’ fellow soldier praises Taehyung’s passion
The photos came accompanied by a long handwritten note. V’s fellow soldier, who goes by the user ID Win.Min, described how grateful he was to his “Taehyung Hyung.” He shared that he couldn’t express all his emotions in words, so he took the first opportunity after returning home to post this heartfelt message and the photos, calling them ‘beautiful memories’ of his life.
“My body, including my shoulders and thighs, wasn’t feeling well overall, but I got a lot of motivation when I saw you receiving 1st place in full-arm shooting, 1st place in winter city training and shooting, and even receiving the Military Police Exemplary Award despite being injured,” he wrote and added, “Watching all that was truly inspiring.”
He also recalled how, during their last physical fitness test together, they ran the 3 km side by side, pushing each other and shouting “fighting,” calling the experience “so awesome.” The note continued, “Most of all, thanks to the consistency and passion shown by my brother, I was able to push my dream of becoming a rehabilitation therapist even harder and not give up on my exercise and studies throughout my military career.” He signed off saying, “My military life was more enjoyable because of my brother. I’ll be steady, not giving up, just like you, hyung. Always be healthy, Hyung.” Meanwhile, BTS is scheduled to make a full comeback in 2025, though the chances of releasing a new album this year are slim, according to BigHit.
