Karan Aujla, Arijit Singh, Jonita Gandhi and Hanumankind feature on Ed Sheeran’s new Remixes album. Listen now
Pop singer Ed Sheeran has released a remixed version of four his songs from the latest album 'Play' featuring artists like Arijit Singh, Jonita Gandhi, Karan Aujla and Hanumankind.

After shocking the world by having Shah Rukh Khan dancing and Arijit Singh singing in his song Sapphire, Ed Sheeran is now continuing his love affair with India. The English singer just released a new EP titled ‘Remixes’ which contains 4 tracks from his previous album ‘Play,’ but all of them have been re-imagined with an Indian artist.
‘Sapphire’ that already featured Arijit Singh, now has an extended verse in his voice, with Ed diving deeper into the whole singing in Hindi idea. However, ‘Sapphire’ is not the first track of this EP and it actually starts with a remix of the neo-discotheque-like song ‘Symmetry’ featuring the Punjabi phenom Karan Aujla. The ‘I Really Do’ singer takes over from Ed in the second verse and controls most of the remaining song. The duo even go back and forth with Ed singing whole stanzas in Punjabi. The music video released also features Norwegian dance group Quick Style, that went viral a couple of years ago for their dance covers of Indian songs.

The next surprise is a remix of ‘Don’t Look Down’ featuring Hanumankind, Dhee, and Santhosh Narayanan. This time around the song actually starts with a Tamil intro performed by singer Dhee and Sheeran picks it up from there. Sheeran and Dhee keep passing the baton to each other until the second verse, as Hanumankind starts a verse on a track that is very unlike the high-octane instrumentals he is used to.
Still the ‘Run It Up’ rapper flows smoothly though the song and the verse is longer than your usual 16 bars. He then makes way for Narayanan’s flute arrangement to take over the song, which leaves for one last ‘drop’ to come and end the song. The fourth and final song of the EP, ‘Heaven’ features singer Jonita Gandhi. Ed continues his theme of giving the featured artist a bigger space in the song, and Jonita makes good use of every second. Their vocals overlap each other in the final leg of the song, as they slowly move towards the end.
‘Play’ and ‘Remixes’ are currently available on every major platform. The original version of ‘Sapphire’ has already crossed 220 million streams on Spotify alone.
