Coldplay Ahmedabad concert tickets sold out; fans complain about long queues running into lakhs
Bookings for Coldplay's 2025 concert in Ahmedabad went live at 12 pm on Saturday. The gig will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on January 25.

British band Coldplay is set to perform in India for the first time in January 2025. To meet the high demand, the band recently announced an additional concert at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25, 2025, tickets for which went live at noon on Saturday. Fans complained about having to wait in long queues online, only to be disappointed after the tickets were sold out. The queues on BookMyShow ran into lakhs as soon as the tickets went live on the platform.
Many fans took to their X accounts and expressed their disappointment about losing out in their third attempt, after having been disappointed previously when tickets for the Mumbai shows went live. A fan, whose queue number at that time was around 3.5 lakh, shared a screenshot and tweeted, “Why is @bookmyshow forcing me too look at my JEE main rank again and again?”
In fact, within a few minutes, the tickets appeared on reselling platforms such as Viagogo, listing at five to six times the original price. A quick search on the app shows one ticket for the South Premium section priced at ₹2 lakh. Even the cheapest ticket starts at ₹25,000. Nearly 200 tickets for the January 25 concert are available on Viagogo right now.

Another fan, Shailesh Kumar, shared his experience of trying to book the tickets. He said that he was using three devices – a laptop, tablet, and desktop. He opened several tabs, hoping to have a higher probability of bagging the tickets. However, he was still in line behind 64,500 users in the virtual queue.

Bookings for Coldplay’s three concerts in Mumbai went live last month, but a lot of fans couldn’t get tickets due to long online queues that went up to 8 lakh on BookMyShow. The announcement of a fourth show in Ahmedabad came after controversy around black marketing of tickets, after they were sold out in a few minutes.
“In addition to the FIR (First Information Report) filed by BookMyShow on the black marketing and scalping of tickets for recent high-demand live entertainment experiences, we have also provided all requisite information and details to law enforcement agencies in their investigations and will continue to proactively fight against scalping and black marketing of tickets – practices that are condemned and punishable by law in India,” said a BookMyShow spokesperson in a statement, after they were asked to take action to avoid black-marketing of tickets by Maharashtra police’s cyber wing.
