American music icon Billy Joel surprised students in a school with an unannounced visit to support the kids, who were performing a tribute concert in his honour.

The 64-year-old singer recently made a surprise visit at the Deasy Elementary School’s spring concert, called ‘The River of Dreams: A Billy Joel Tribute’, New York Daily News.

“We invited Billy Joel on a lark, but we didn’t expect him to come. It was totally thrilling. We were all beside ourselves,” the school’s principal, Nomi Rosen, said.

Joel drove his motorcycle 10 minutes from his home in New York to see the kids sing his songs.

The ‘New York State of Mind’ singer casually sat among the parents and staff there to support the children. After enjoying a couple of songs, Joel made an early departure.
