Actor Lakshmi Menon has found herself at the centre of a major controversy after a case was registered against her and three of her friends for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a young IT employee in Kochi. According to City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya, Lakshmi is currently at large. However, three among the four accused persons have already landed in the police net, and a probe is underway to locate and arrest Lakshmi.

According to OnManorama, the incident began at a restobar in Kochi on Sunday night, when an argument broke out between a friend of the techie and the actor’s gang. The altercation soon escalated and spilt onto the streets, and the actor and her friends reportedly confronted the techie and his gang near the Ernakulam North railway overbridge shortly thereafter. In a complaint filed later, the techie, hailing from Aluva, alleged that he was kidnapped from the spot and assaulted. The arrested persons have been identified as Mithun, Aneesh, and Sonamol. They have been booked under various sections, including kidnapping, wrongful restraint, and verbal abuse.

A police source told the publication that as the argument escalated, one of the accused persons forcibly pulled the techie into their car and sped away. Thereafter, they assaulted, threatened, and verbally abused the complainant until they dropped him off at Vedimara Junction in Paravur around midnight on Monday. “The actor’s phone is switched off, and she is on the run. We are tracing her and she will be arrested,” the source said.

“They were inebriated and started shouting at my friend. We immediately pulled him back and left the place to avoid further escalation. However, they followed us, blocked our car on the North overbridge, and one of them started hitting our car. When I got out and tried to pacify them, they kidnapped me and assaulted me. The actor snatched my phone and verbally abused me,” the victim told the publication. Lakshmi Menon or her team have yet to respond to the allegations.

Who is Lakshmi Menon?

Born to a Malayali couple in Kochi, she made her film debut in director Vinayan’s Raghuvinte Swantham Rasiya (2011). However, it was through her work in the Tamil industry that Lakshmi Menon rose to fame. Following her foray into Tamil cinema in Sundarapandian, she rose to widespread acclaim with her performance in Kumki. She also won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress for her portrayals in these 2012 movies.

Her notable works include Naan Sigappu Manithan (2014), Jigarthanda (2014), Komban (2015), Vedalam (2015), Miruthan (2016), and Chandramukhi 2 (2023). She was last seen in the horror thriller Sabdham (2025), where she shared the screen with Aadhi Pinisetty, Simran, and Laila.
