Thudarum box office collection day 4: Mohanlal’s revenge thriller passes crucial Monday test, earns 33% more than its opening day
Thudarum box office collection day 4: The makers also announced that Tharun Moorthy’s Mohanlal-starrer managed to gross over Rs 69 crore globally in just three days.

Thudarum box office collection day 4: No matter how many setbacks he faces in a row, Mohanlal needs only one reasonably good film to set the box office aflame, which he has repeatedly proven over the years. Following a prolonged dull phase in his career, marked by consecutive misfires with even his top-grosser L2: Empuraan failing to impress all, Mohanlal has delivered a proper hit with director Tharun Moorthy’s Thudarum, earning widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences alike.
Now, Thudarum has also demonstrated the power of a good movie, earning on day four more than what it did on its release day, thus passing the crucial first Monday test with flying colours. On Monday, the Mohanlal-starrer recorded an India nett collection of Rs 7 crore, according to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, taking the film’s domestic total to Rs 31.35 crore. Although this marked a 33.33 per cent dip in its daily earnings compared to what the movie minted on Sunday (Rs 10.5 crore), Thudarum’s first Monday collection is significantly higher than its opening day revenue of Rs 5.25 crore. The makers also announced that Thudarum managed to gross over Rs 69 crore globally in just three days.
It may be noted here that the first Monday earnings of L2: Empuraan, the controversial Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial that went on to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time and the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, stood at Rs 11.15 crore. This highlights that Thudarum indeed has the potential to outperform Empuraan theatrically.
During the day, Thudarum registered an overall occupancy of 53.40 per cent in the Malayalam market, despite it being a weekday. While the morning shows started with a whopping 40.15 per cent, the rate only improved as the day unfolded, with the afternoon shows witnessing 50.50 per cent occupancy and the evening and night screenings recording 60.92 per cent and 62.01 per cent, respectively. According to local industry tracker What The Fuss, Thudarum has earned Rs 25.91 crore from Kerala alone in four days, with 16,34,968 admissions across 7,138 shows, achieving an occupancy rate of 84.50 per cent collectively.

Also starring Shobana, Prakash Varma, Binu Pappu, Thomas Mathew and Farhaan Faasil in key roles, Thudarum is Mohanlal’s 360th film. The Malayalam superstar’s last critical and commercial theatrical success was Lucifer (2019). While Drishyam 2 (2021) sparked major discussion and received widespread praise, it had a direct-to-OTT release. Barring Neru (2023), which opened to strong numbers but only average reviews, Mohanlal has mostly faced disappointment at the box office since Lucifer. Some of his major flops include Ittymaani: Made in China (2019), Big Brother (2020), Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham (2021), Aaraattu (2022), Monster (2022), Malaikottai Vaaliban (2024) and Barroz 3D (2024).
