Helmed by ace filmmaker Ram, known for Thanga Meengal (2013), Taramani (2017) and the Mammootty-starrer Peranbu (2019), Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai also stars Anjali and Soori in key roles.

Bankrolled by Suresh Kamatchi, Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music for the movie. While the film’s dubbing was completed in April this year, its official release date is yet to be announced.

Hey Jude’s producer accuses Nivin Pauly of unprofessional behaviour

Meanwhile, Nivin Pauly has become embroiled in a controversy after producer Anil Ambalakkara, who bankrolled Nivin’s 2018 Malayalam film Hey Jude, accused the actor of unprofessional behaviour during the movie’s production. The film marked Tamil star Trisha’s Malayalam debut.

Anil revealed that Nivin demanded a substantial fee for his role in the film and even went so far as to threaten not to complete the dubbing unless the amount was paid. He also told YouTube channel Master Bin that he suffered a financial loss of ₹4 crore due to the film.

Recalling that Kalidas Jayaram was initially the preferred choice for the lead role, Anil mentioned that the decision to cast Nivin was made based on his experience and market appeal. However, the producer noted that Nivin requested a fee of Rs 1.5 crore, even though director Shyamaprasad had assured that the actor would not demand more than Rs 1 crore. Anil discussed the matter with Shyamaprasad, who suggested a compromise, to which Anil agreed.

“I paid Nivin Rs 1.25 crore. However, complications arose after the shooting was completed. Despite the film using sync sound, there were parts that required dubbing. When we approached Nivin for this, he insisted on receiving full payment before participating in the dubbing process,” Anil added.

“On the sixth day of shooting, he abruptly left the set to attend an event in Kozhikode. This caused a disruption in the shoot, which was scheduled to include Trisha. The crew was informed about this change just a day before. Upon arriving at the filming location in Goa, Trisha expressed a preference for a specific hotel. Upon hearing this, he also altered his plans, stating that he wanted to stay in a similar hotel,” Anil recalled.

He also noted that the underwhelming performance of Nivin’s previous movie, Richie, had a negative impact on the box office potential of Hey Jude.
