Soubin Shahir has been cloud nine ever since the release of Rajinikanth starrer Coolie, a film with middling reviews but most of the online discourse has been favorable to Soubin’s performance as the demented ‘Dayal’ in the Lokesh Kanagaraj film, However, in a recent development, the actor was denied approval to travel abroad for an awards show in Dubai by the Ernakulam Magistrate Court. The star of the blockbuster Manjummel Boys, Soubin, has been going through several legal troubles ever since that film’s release, with several financial fraud cases filed against him and his production house. The actor turned producer was barred from travelling outside the country by the courts back in June, in light of the ongoing case proceedings in court.

This rejection came on the back of his application to fly to Dubai on the 5th of September for the South India International Movie Awards (SIIMA), where he had won a major award for his work in Manjummel Boys. The actor was again denied an interim relief by the High Court of Kerala by a judgment that upheld the decision of the lower court in keeping the travel ban in place till the next hearing on the 8th of September. The police case was filed against Soubin Shahir and his team of co-producers on Manjummel Boys by Siraj Valayithira, who claims to be one of the silent investors for the blockbuster, who was made to invest close to Rs 7 crores towards the film’s budget by the producers, only to deny any part of the profit share post-release.
The current case is filed under Section 120 B(Punishment of Criminal Conspiracy), Section 34 (common intention), and Section 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust), and several other related charges. There has been no public response from Soubin Shair or the team regarding any of the developments in the case. Soubin, basking in the great appreciation for his work in Coolie has not committed to any other projects as an actor in Malayalam for the time being. He was earlier reported to be all set for his sophomore directorial outing starring Dulquer Salman in the lead role sometime later this year.
