Sandra Thomas alleges Mammootty urged her to drop KFPA case; claims producers’ association chief acts like megastar’s ‘house-help’: ‘Mohanlal’s people have…’
Sandra Thomas has alleged that Mammootty contacted her recently, urging her to withdraw the legal case she filed after her candidacy for the upcoming KFPA elections was disqualified.

Unwilling to bow down before the authority, producer Sandra Thomas has approached the court after she was disqualified from contesting in the forthcoming Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) elections. Meanwhile, she has also stepped forward, alleging that Malayalam megastar Mammootty contacted her recently, urging her to withdraw the legal case. She also claimed that he backed out of a film that they had planned together after that.
After making headlines late last month by arriving at the KFPA office in Kochi wearing a black purdah to file her nomination papers, Sandra has become a hot topic in Kerala once again after she locked horns with the association’s office bearers over the rejection of her nomination. Maintaining that her papers were rejected simply because the current leadership feared she might win the upcoming executive committee elections scheduled for August 14, she took a swipe at the KFPA president Anto Joseph, alleging that he behaves like one of Mammootty’s “house-helps”. Furthermore, Sandra asserted that she has received full support from those close to superstar Mohanlal.
“I am 100 per cent confident that if my nomination hadn’t been rejected, I could have reached the top of the association. Aren’t they trying to deny my nomination precisely because they know they would lose? They can’t win. The other producers aren’t fools, are they? They are all watching what’s happening. Everyone knows there is massive corruption happening within. They often use the association to carry out many wrongdoings,” she said during a chat with Oneindia Malayalam.
Claiming that KFPA was currently functioning as a B-team to the actors’ Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), Sandra added, “The president of our association considers opening a particular star’s car door and pulling out the latter’s chairs as his duty. So, what does that say about the situation for producers like us? He is practically that star’s domestic help over there.” She further maintained that many industry insiders, including producers and actors, have personally expressed their support for her.

Mentioning that Mammootty called her recently, she said, “He asked me not to proceed with the case. He spoke to me for about 45 minutes. But I asked him just one question, ‘Mammukka, if your daughter were in this situation, would you tell her the same thing? Would you take the stance that she should not react, not proceed with the case, and stay silent because it might affect her future? Because she won’t be able to make movies anymore, or the producers won’t let her release her films in theatres?’ Hearing this, he said, ‘It’s up to you now, Sandra. I won’t say anything more about it. Do as you wish.’ But there was a movie he had committed to with me. He backed out of it. The president of our association is his house-help. So, of course, that’s the only stance he can take.”
She added, “Lalettan (Mohanlal) hasn’t spoken to me about this matter. However, people close to him have offered me their full support. When people who are so close to him say that, I take it to mean that I have his support as well.”

Sandra has approached the Ernakulam sub-court following her disqualification from running for the positions of president and treasurer in the upcoming KFPA elections, OnManorama reported. She was disqualified citing that she has only two tittles to her credit, while the association’s bylaws require candidates to have three censor certificates in their name.
Even though she contested this by stating that she had previously co-produced many films as part of Friday Film House, the KFPA office-bearers maintained that she is no longer associated with the brand and that Vijay Babu is currently the only registered owner of Friday Film House.
