O Baby, helmed by writer-filmmaker Ranjan Pramod, stars Dileesh Pothan in a pivotal role, alongside Raghunath Paleri, Athulya, Haniya Nafisa, Saji Soman, and Shinu Syamalan.

“Let them try killing us… but we will continue trying to stay alive and live…” says one of the characters to another. The essence of the upcoming Malayalam film O Baby‘s trailer is succinctly portrayed in this dialogue. The movie, helmed by writer-filmmaker Ranjan Pramod, stars Dileesh Pothan in a pivotal role, alongside Raghunath Paleri, Athulya, Haniya Nafisa, Saji Soman, and Shinu Syamalan. The film is scheduled for release in theatres on June 9.
Bankrolled jointly by Pothan, Abhishek Sashidharan, and Pramod Tevarpally, the movie is expected to be a thrilling ride. The trailer provides a glimpse into the captivating world of the film. It opens with three young adults strolling through a plantation, accompanied by a cover of the timeless Asha Bhosle-Kishore Kumar duet Yeh Raaten Yeh Mausam. As the song sets the mood, the two of them exchange affectionate gazes, adding a heartfelt touch to the scene.
However, the tone of the promo takes a sharp turn when word gets out about the romantic involvement between the two. This revelation sets off a series of conflicts among the local residents, rapidly escalating into an ugly situation where the elders resort to violence against one another. It becomes apparent that none of them are willing to accept the relationship between the two.
The trailer concludes by offering a glimpse into the film’s action-packed sequences, highlighting the central theme of the characters’ relentless fight for survival.
The film also features actors Indrajith Sukumaran and Poornima Indrajith’s daughter Prarthana who has lent her voice to a song titled Mullaanu. The makers of the movie had unveiled the lyrical video of the song a week ago.
While Arun Chalil is heading the cinematography team, Samjith Mohamed is in charge of editing the film for which the original background score has been set by Lijin Bambino and the songs have been composed by Varun Krishna and Pranav Das.
Ranjan Pramod, who kicked off his film career as a screenwriter, has so far directed three films — Photographer (2006), Rose Guitarinaal (2013), and Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu (2017). He has also penned scripts for superhit movies such as Meesa Madhavan (2002), Manassinakkare (2003), Achuvinte Amma (2005), Naran (2005) and Ennum Eppozhum (2015).
Dileesh Pothan was last seen in B Unnikrishnan’s Christopher, while his final production venture was Saheed Arafath’s Thankam.
