Navya Nair, Saiju Kurup starrer Janaki Jaane to tell the story of a woman with extreme fear of things
Directed by Aneesh Upasana, Janaki Jaane is set to hit theatres on May 12. The film stars Navya Nair, Saiju Kurup, Sharaf U Dheen, Anarkali Marikar, Sminu Sijo, and Johny Antony.

“Have you consulted a doctor or taken medicines for your extreme fear of things,” one of the characters asks Janaki (Navya Nair). Focusing on the lives of Janaki and her husband Unni Mukundan (Saiju Kurup), Janaki Jaane, written and directed by Aneesh Upasana who previously helmed films such as Matinee (2012), Seconds (2014) and Popcorn (2016), is set to hit theatres on May 12. The trailer of the film that the makers released recently provides an extended view of the lives of Janaki and Mukundan, a glimpse of which the viewers received through the two teasers of the movie that dropped a few weeks ago.
While the first teaser showed that Janaki is scared of darkness, the second teaser video introduced Unni Mukundan to the viewers while providing a sneak peek of the other characters in the film.
However, the trailer provides a better view of their world and shows that everything is not well in Janaki and Unni’s lives. The trailer which begins with Unni Mukundan and his family visiting Janaki’s house with a marriage proposal, soon cuts to their wedding day and then their marital life. Though Unni was confident that he would be able to handle Janaki’s fears, we are soon shown that it is more serious than what he had anticipated. Meanwhile, things start falling apart when a series of unprecedented incidents happen in their life.
Around this time, we are introduced to other characters in the film played by Sharaf U Dheen, Anarkali Marikar, Sminu Sijo and Johny Antony. But towards the end, we get to know that the film has all the elements of a Malayalam family drama.
Janaki Jaane is Navya Nair and Saiju Kurup’s second movie together after V K Prakash’s Oruthee (2022).
