Barroz, directed by and starring Mohanlal, is made in 3D, and it is the next big venture of the Malayalam star after Malaikottai Vaaliban.

After being a superstar in the Malayalam film industry for decades, Mohanlal has decided to don the director’s hat for Barraoz, a film adaptation of Lijo Punnoose’s novel Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. The film was first announced in 2019, and the pandemic put it on hold. After several changes, including the exit of Punnoose from the project, Barroz seems to be getting ready to see the light of day. As an assurance, Mohanlal has started the year 2024 with a new poster of the film.

The poster features Mohanlal sitting on a hollow horse and wielding a sword. He is as majestic as he can get, and the mythical horse creates intrigue and makes one wonder about the world of Barroz.

Barroz’s novel is based on a myth about a treasure of Vasco da Gama, who entered India through Kerala. Given that the novel is written by Lijo Punnoose, the creator of India’s first 3D film My Dear Kuttichathan (1984), one can expect the movie to be a visual treat and a complete family entertainer.

Other than Mohanlal, the film stars Ignacio Mateos, Ceast Lorente Raton, Guru Somasundaram, Komal Sharma, and Pranav Mohanlal. Lydian Nadharswaram is composing the songs for the film, while South African composer Mark Kilian will be taking care of the background score.
