Mohanlal declares he doesn’t want to direct another film after Barroz, reveals he reached out to Hans Zimmer for music
Mohanlal shared in a recent interview that Barroz has been shot in 'native 3D'.

Actor-director Mohanlal is all set for the release of Barroz 3D: Guardian of Treasures. The fantasy drama also marks his directorial debut. In a recent interview, Mohanlal expressed his desire to direct a 3D film that wouldn’t require the audience to wear glasses. He also reached out to the Oscar-winning Hans Zimmer to compose music for the film.
Mohanlal, while speaking to Galatta Plus, was asked what made him decide to direct Barroz. He said that he originally wanted to direct a 3D film that wouldn’t require glasses, but the costs of making one would be too high. He put the idea aside, but that’s how the idea of making Barroz first came to him. “I love doing impossible things,” he said.

The star actor added that the 3D version of Barroz won’t cause a headache. Mohanlal said, “Luckily, we came up with a good product. A few saw the film, and thankfully, they didn’t have a headache. Generally, people say watching a film in 3D gives them a headache. That will not be the case with Barroz. Everything fell in the right place for the film.”
Mohanlal also revealed that he had initially reached out to Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer to compose the music for Barroz. Mohanlal shared, “I wrote a letter to Hans Zimmer and asked him if he could do this film. He replied that he didn’t have much time.” Mohanlal shared that Zimmer’s musical team still contributed to the film’s soundtrack, and added, “Eventually, some of Hans Zimmer’s musical players are playing in this film.”
During the conversation, Mohanlal also said that he will not direct more films. Barroz’s plot and screenplay were penned by Jijo Punnoose and it is based on the novel Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. The movie also stars Maya, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Tuhin Menon, and Guru Somasundaram in significant roles.
Produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Barroz will hit theaters on December 25.
