Mohanlal announces release date of Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malaikottai Vaaliban

Now, Mohanlal himself has dropped the biggest and most-awaited update: the release date of Malaikottai Vaaliban.

Taking to social media on Monday, on the occasion of LJP’s 45th birthday, Mohanlal shared a new poster of the movie and announced that the film will hit theatres on January 25, 2024. “The countdown has begun! Vaaliban is arriving in theatres worldwide on 25th January 2024,” Mohanlal noted.

Even the latest poster aligns with the film’s previous promotional materials, exuding an aura of mystery and anticipation. It showcases Mohanlal in an entirely new and intriguing appearance, seated amidst a desert landscape, dressed in maroon robes that capture the distinctive style of the movie’s setting.

“To work with Lijo Jose Pellissery has been very enriching as his cinematic approach is totally unique. His films stand apart not just for their technical finesse but also their themes and this project is no different. I hope, together we will be able to live up to the expectations of the audience,” Mohanlal said.

Meanwhile, director Lijo Jose Pellissery noted, “This is a period film which demanded someone with the gravitas of Mohanlal sir and we are very proud of what we have created together. Working with a legend like him is indescribable as he comes with a lifetime of experience as an actor. To see him vanish into the character is incredible.”

The shooting of the highly ambitious film spanned 130 days, covering multiple locales in Rajasthan, Chennai, and Puducherry (Pondicherry). Malaikottai Vaaliban is Lijo Jose Pellissery’s biggest project to date. “This is a film for every Indian and anyone who is interested in an uplifting tale about the human spirit,” said producer Shibu Baby John.

Penned by PS Rafeeque and bankrolled by Shibu Baby John for John & Mary Creative, along with Century Films, Maxlab Cinemas and Entertainments, and Amen Movie Monastery, Malaikottai Vaaliban is said to be a period drama. While Madhu Neelakandan is handling the film’s cinematography, its songs are composed by Prashant Pillai, and Deepu S Joseph is in charge of editing.

The film also features Marathi actor Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi, Manikandan Achari, Rajeev Pillai, Kannada actor and comedian Danish Sait, and Hariprashant Varma.
