After the pan-Indian juggernaut blockbuster success of Marco, Unni Mukundan is all set to play Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a new biopic titled ‘Maa Vande’. The announcement was made on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday. The actor took to his Instagram page to post the first look poster with the caption, “A man’s story that rises beyond battles… to become a revolution for the ages #MaaVande it is Wishing the Honourable Prime Minister @Narendramodi Ji a very Happy Birthday. May glory be revived and brighter things await.” The film will be directed by Kranti Kumar C G.

According to The Times of India, the film is reported to be tracing Modi’s childhood right up until his ascent to national leadership. Unni Mukundan also added, “I’m humbled to share that I will be portraying the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Damodardas Modi ji, in the upcoming film Maa Vande, directed by @kranthikumarch and produced by @maavandemovie.”

Unni Mukunda is known for his action films in Malayalam cinema like Meppadiyan, Malikapuram and Marco. Marco, a spin-off of a character played by Unni Mukundan in the Nivin Pauly-starrer Mikhael, is the biggest blockbuster to date for Unni Mukundan, who enjoyed much appreciation with that film.

The actor also shared his first meeting with Modi. “Having grown up in Ahmedabad, I first knew him as my Chief Minister during my childhood. Years later, in April 2023, I had the privilege of meeting him in person, a moment that left an indelible mark on me. Unni Mukundan also opened up about what their focus would be in making the biopic. “His political journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, but in this film, we aim to explore the man beyond the statesman, especially his profound bond with his mother, who shaped his character and spirit,” said Unni Mukundan. The film’s tagline is ‘ An Anthem of a Mother.’  Unni Mukundan will be next seen in Gandhara Jr and also a superhero movie which will mark his directorial debut which will start shooting sometime next year based on a script by Midhun Manuel Thomas.
