After spending 85 days in Aluv Sub jail for allegedly conspiring an attack against a Malayalam actress, movie star Dileep walked out of the jail on Tuesday, hours after he was granted bail by the Kerala High Court. He stepped out of the prison to loud cheers from the fans. He acknowledged and thanked his fans and quickly got into his car and left the place without speaking to the media. Hundreds of fans of Dileep had gathered near the prison, where their favourite actor had been locked up since his arrest, soon after learning the latest development in the case. The fans celebrated the news by pouring milk on Dileep's cutouts, distributing sweets and raising pro-Dileep slogans. There was a cloud of uncertainty over Dileep walking out of the jail by today evening due to legal formalities. However, the actor's family and lawyers quickly fulfilled all the requirements of the High Court bench paving the way for Dileep's release. Earlier, Dileep was denied bail four times; twice by the Angamaly Magistrate Court and twice by the Kerala High Court. He was granted bail in his fifth attempt even as the prosecution objected to it. The court, however, observed that there was a 'substantial' change in the 'circumstances' that allowed it to grant relief for the accused actor. The court ordered the actor to surrender his passport and produce a bond of Rs 1 lakh along with two personal sureties to secure bail. Dileep's brother Anoop and legal team completed the formalities at the Angamaly court and reached the Aluva Sub Jail with release orders before 5 pm. "We will straight go to the house in Aluva," said Anoop, while waiting for his brother outside the jail. Dileep was arrested in July in connection with the abduction and sexual assault of an actress that happened on February 17 this year.
