Lokah Chapter 1 box office collection day 21: Kalyani Priyadarshan’s superhero drama Lokah is just Rs 8 crore short of overtaking L2: Empuraan to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever. The movie has already crossed the lifetime earnings of Manjummel Boys, Thudarum, and 2018.
According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, on day 21, the Dominic Arun directorial earned Rs 2.1 crore, taking its net collection in India to Rs 126 crore. Lokah Chapter 1’s total worldwide collection currently stands at Rs 257 crore.
On its third Wednesday, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra recorded an overall Malayalam occupancy of 23.41%, with morning shows at 14.30%, afternoon shows at 18.90%, and night shows peaking at 37.02%. In Telugu, the film registered an overall occupancy of 14.38%.
An excerpt of SCREEN’s review of Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, read, “I believe Lokah is one of the finest superhero films India has ever produced. What makes it far better than other massive-budget fantasy spectacles is that its magnificence extends beyond visual brilliance to include impeccable writing, offering an experience like never before. Instead of simply picking random characters and instances from Hindu mythological texts to capitalise on people’s blind belief in such stories — as most recent fantasy and superhero Indian movies have done — writer-director Dominic Arun anchors the story firmly in the rich tapestry of Kerala folklore.”
Produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, Lokah also features Naslen K. Gafoor, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, and Vijayaraghavan in pivotal roles. The superhero drama marks the first installment in the Lokah cinematic universe.
