Pushpa director Sukumar said ‘I don’t know’ when Fahadh Faasil asked him how he should play the character: ‘Gave me 3-4 options’

Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil opens up about his acting process and his approach to Aavesham and Pushpa.

Actor Fahadh Faasil opened up about Aavesham and Pushpa, compared both films, and revealed more about how different the sets of these two movies are. In an interview with Galatta Plus, when asked about how Aavesham is different from his previous ventures, he said, “In Aavesham, the intent was always to be away from my boundaries. If you look at it, Aavesham is actually moving with the audience than it is with the character or any of the other factors. I have not approached anything like that earlier. I always wanted the screenplay to move organically, but with Aavesham, I said let’s try something else. Jithu came to me with something very commercial. That’s why Aavesham is so new to me.”

However, when noted that the character of Ranga doesn’t do anything overboard like the generic masala heroes, Fahadh said, “It is hard to stitch all the things together… there’s love in him, there’s in concern, there’s sadness to him… to stitch all of this in a character who is so loud that was a bit challenging. I am not the first one to do that. Mammuka has done it in Rajamanikyam. The idea was to bring back a character that was played long ago by the hero. I wanted to bring back the excitement of watching an old movie.”

Though Aavesham’s Ranga is a larger-than-life character, he is still different from a character like Pushpa. Fahadh Faasil weighed in on the comparison between the two films and said, “With Pushpa, the setting itself is larger than life. Aavesham is set in Bengaluru. You get down there and you will know where the film is happening. Pushpa is happening in the 90s. The geography is set, the period is set… And Pushpa can be set anywhere. Aavesham cannot be set anywhere. In Pushpa, I play a larger-than-life character in a larger-than-life setting, but with Aavesham the approach is a bit different.”

Talking about a particular party scene in Aavesham, Fahadh said that he doesn’t go to the sets having a fixed mind about a scene. “For example, even while shooting Pushpa. Sukumar sir was like, ‘What do you want to do?’ I went, ‘I don’t know.’ He then says, ‘I also don’t know.’ So, he told me to give him three or four options. That’s how we do it.”

“When you are shopping, you don’t immediately buy what you want, right? You try out different things. Similarly, I try different things. I am someone who goes back and reshoots scenes. There’s a meter I want to crack. That meter needs to align with the other actors as well. And it is not just easy to get there,” he added.

Louvre Museum in Paris shut after thieves armed with chainsaws loot Napoleon-era jewels

Thieves armed with chainsaws stole nine pieces of jewelry, including items belonging to Napoleon and Empress Joséphine, from the Louvre Museum. The museum was immediately shut down and a police investigation is underway. French Culture Minister Rachida Dati confirmed the incident and the Louvre remains closed. The robbers used a freight elevator and broke through glass displays.
