Dies Irae box office collection: Pranav Mohanlal film crosses Rs 50 crore mark in six days

Dies Irae opened to rave reviews on October 31, with many praising its technical craft. An excerpt from SCREEN’s review of Dies Irae read, “One of the major factors that makes Dies Irae a magnificent horror thriller is that Rahul hasn’t tried to ‘scare the audience’ all the time. Yes, there are a few jump scares and startling moments, but they only help amplify what the director has already set. Instead of shocking viewers, Rahul has made the movie slither under their skin step by step, each move sending a shiver down their spine. Rather than petrifying, he has focused on making the audience writhe, ensuring that the sensation lingers.”

Recently, director Rahul Sadasivan addressed rumours of a possible sequel to Dies Irae, as the film concludes on an open-ended note. Speaking to NDTV about the speculation, Rahul said, “Yes, it had a very open ending and it leaves a window to explore more possibilities to bring these characters together again in another film. This just happened so organically – it was not intentional. Now, I’m happy that I’ve given the right amount of details – not too much and not too less – for a possible sequel.”

Dies Irae features Pranav alongside Gibin Gopinath, Jaya Kurup, Sushmitha Bhat, and Arun Ajikumar in key roles. It follows a privileged young man who is haunted by a figure from his past, triggering a disturbing and traumatic spiral. The film is produced by Y Not Studios and Night Shift Studios.
