Bougainvillea trailer: The much-awaited trailer of the highly anticipated Malayalam film Bougainvillea, helmed by Amal Neerad, is here and it indeed defies expectations. Known for his action-packed visual spectacles that blend drama and thriller elements, Amal has ventured into a new territory this time, creating what seems to be a psychological thriller designed to send chills down viewers’ spines at every turn.
While the 131-second trailer released on Wednesday offers a glimpse into the film’s world, it also skillfully withholds much of the plot, leaving audiences intrigued and wanting more. Accompanied by a haunting score, the trailer begins with Reethu (Jyothirmayi) running through a sunflower field, which is soon revealed to be a nightmare. The trailer then flashes back to a car accident involving her and her partner Roy (Kunchacko Boban). “After that mishap, her behaviour, speech and memories have been a bit messed up,” Roy can be heard saying. “She’s got a fixation with Bougainvillea,” he adds, while also mentioning that painting is now her sole focus. Nonetheless, we also see that she is close with her kids.
Also starring Sharaf U Dheen, Veena Nandakumar and Srinda, Bougainvillea boasts music by Sushin Shyam, cinematography by Anend C Chandran and editing by Vivek Harshan. The film marks Amal’s return to the director’s chair after more than two years since the blockbuster Mammootty-starrer Bheeshma Parvam (2022) and is set to hit the screens worldwide on October 17.
