WWE takes a page out of Bigg Boss’ playbook, married couples clash live on Smackdown; iconic star makes return
WWE Smackdown Highlights: CM Punk was attacked by Seth Rollins' wife and Intercontinental champion Becky Lynch once again, prompting a former WWE star to make a return.

This week’s episode of WWE Smackdown could have been the brainchild of either Triple-H or Salman Khan, as the show switched from its usual relationship storyline into something extremely similar to Bigg Boss. CM Punk, who has been on Seth Rollins’ back ever since the latter cashed in his MITB contract, has been harassed by Seth’s wife, Becky Lynch, for the past week. Becky came out to confront Punk, and, in order to get a reaction out of him, slapped and shoved him multiple times. Punk warned Becky that she would regret laying hands on him, and this week, the fans understood what he meant by that statement.
Punk came out to address the crowd during this week’s Smackdown, and was greeted by Becky in the ring, with Seth looking over from the crowd. Punk kept the same tone as last week and said, “This isn’t about you, Becky; it’s about your coward of a husband, who is sitting over there in the crowd, hiding behind Paul Heyman, hiding behind his goons, and hiding behind his wife.” Becky didn’t agree with Punk’s point of view and brought up the previous week’s events, and said, “How is your face? How is your pride? before slapping Punk again.

Punk moved out of the ring and told her that he isn’t going to respond to her physical attacks, but he knows someone who would love to. Then, suddenly, AJ Lee’s (Punk’s real-life wife) entrance music played, and the fans laid their eyes on the WWE superstar after a gap of more than 10 years. She walked down the ring while smiling at the crowd and then entered the ring to take down Becky. Even after being missing from action for over a decade, AJ made short work of Becky, and the current Intercontinental Champion had to flee from the ring. Both Seth and Becky regrouped in front of the ring, as they looked over at Punk and AJ hugging each other.
Becky was the one that cost Punk his match against Seth at Clash In Paris, and with AJ’s return, the challenger will have someone in his corner. More than that, it is likely that AJ is set to stay for a while and actually go for a championship run herself against Becky.
The other notable match of the show was between John Cena and Sami Zayn. The latter, who is the current US champion, came out to fight Cena in order to honour the ‘Open Challenge’ Cena had hosted back in 2015. The match, however, ended in a no-contest, as Brock Lesnar came out to attack both men, setting up his match with Cena in the upcoming PLE.
