In an interview with NBC, however, she said that they are working to ‘heal the relationship’ again. “There’s no finding another great love, and I think that’s the point. It’s like we are in a place now that we are in a deep, healing space. And we are really concentrating on healing the relationship between us. There’s no divorce on paper. We really have been working hard. That’s the whole thing. We are working very hard at bringing our relationship together. Back to a life partnership,” the actor said.

   In an interview with Hoda Kotb for NBC, Pinkett Smith said that she and Smith had been living separate lives since 2016. “I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying.    In the People interview, Pinkett Smith revealed that Rock asked her out at a time when it was rumoured that she and Smith were headed for a divorce. “I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce. And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce. So he called me and basically he was like, ‘I’d love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumors.’ He was appalled. And he profusely apologized and that was that," she said.

   At a Vanity Fair event, Pinkett Smith said that she and Smith are working hard to rebuild their relationship into a life partnership once again, and that the slap incident brought them closer.
