‘Twilight’ director Bill Condon to helm ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Bill Condon has signed on to direct Disney's live-action 'Beauty and the Beast' movie.

Bill Condon, best known for his ‘Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’ and ‘Fifth Estate’, has signed on to direct Disney’s live-action ‘Beauty and the Beast’ movie.

The studio recently rebooted its ‘Sleeping Beauty’ to much success in Angelina Jolie starrer ‘Maleficent’ and hoping to garner similar results on ‘Beast’, whose animated version in 1991 earned USD 425 million worldwide.

Disney also has a live-action Cinderella film coming up in 2015 as well as a Jungle Book film in development, said the Hollywood Reporter.

Condon has previously directed 2006 musical hit ‘Dreamgirls’.
