Despite the Avengers’ triumph over Thanos and saving the universe, it’s evident that achieving lasting peace remains a distant goal. Now, with the entrance of a powerful new enemy, the Kree warrior revolutionary Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton), Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan aka Ms Marvel (Iman Vellani) must prepare for a challenging fresh battle where victory won’t come easily.

Ahead of the release of Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels on Friday, Marvel Studios unveiled its final trailer earlier today, providing a glimpse of the impending showdown. The 120-second promo begins with flashback shots featuring Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and Captain America (Chris Evans), with a voiceover from Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) stating, “Heroes, it is an old-fashioned notion, but the world can still use them.”

“We destroyed Thanos… but it’s not over,” Carol Danvers says, to which Thanos’ voiceover adds, “My work is inevitable. There will always be more… to finish it,” as Dar-Benn appears, set to embark on a significant mission.

“She tore a hole in space,” a shocked Monica Rambeau says, and adds, “There’s a different reality bleeding into ours.” “I am invincible,” Danvers reminds Benn, to which the latter responds, “Your powers only make me stronger.”

The promo further showcases glimpses of Benn’s power, which appears to be on par with the combined strength of Captain Marvel, Rambeau, and Ms Marvel, while Fury urges the heroes to embark on “one last fight”.

Meanwhile, providing strong support for S.A.B.E.R’s efforts, King “Val” Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) makes an appearance towards the end of the trailer, advising Captain Marvel, “You can stand tall without standing alone.”

Serving as a direct sequel to the 2019 film Captain Marvel, the studio has labelled The Marvels as “the moment that changes everything”. The movie is the 33rd instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has seen a decline in audience interest in the post-pandemic era, despite maintaining its position as the highest-grossing film franchise in history.
