The waves from right-wing supporter Charlie Kirk’s assassination are still rocking the boat of America hard, and the latest one overboard is actor Jessica Chastain. The Zero Dark Thirty actor was coming out with a new show called Savant under the banner of Apple TV+, but the makers decided to postpone the show after “careful consideration”. While no official correlation has been made between the two events, the narrative that Savant follows raises some questions.

Chastain’s show followed the life of a female agent whose job was to incorporate herself into the lives of violent extremists in the US in order to foil their plans from the inside. A sentence flashes in front of the audience right when the trailer for the show starts, and it says, “Between 1994 and 2004, 893 extremist attacks took place in America. Today unseen heroes protect us from countless more.” The entire point behind the show was to speak against the hundreds of mindless attacks that take place in the malls, schools, parks, and public places of America.

This mindless violence was ultimately the responsible party for the assassination of Charlie, an event that shook the country to its core and even made his staunchest non-supporters stand in his corner. He was shot dead while hosting a discussion at Utah Valley University on September 10. The authorities have charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson for the murder of Charlie. Apple is yet to provide any explanation behind this move, while a representative of the company just told the media that, “After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.”

In earlier comments about the show, Chastain talked about the nature of the story and told Radio Times, “I hate it. I hate that there are mass acts of violence. But maybe through this conversation and through unearthing this darkness in society, then we’re going to work together to fix it.” Melissa James Gibson is the writer, executive producer and showrunner for Savant, and the cast of the show also includes Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, James Badge Dale and guest star Pablo Schreiber.

The show’s initial release was planned for September 26.
