Guardians of the Galaxy 3 box office collection Day 2: Marvel’s latest superhero film sees little growth, faces strong competition from The Kerala Story
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 box office collection day 2: The MCU movie is facing stiff competition from The Kerala Story, which clocked an opening of Rs 8.03 Cr India net and followed it up with a considerable jump in collections on Saturday.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 on Saturday showed marginal jump in collections, failing to register big growth as was expected from a tentpole Marvel superhero film. After a decent opening of Rs 7.3 crore on Friday, the film earned Rs 8.50 Cr India net on its second day for all languages, industry tracker Sacnilk reported.
The James Gunn-directed movie is the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017). As per the early estimates, the film had the best occupancy for its English version with 34.24%, followed by 24.04% Tamil occupancy and 15.03% for Hindi.
According to Variety, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 drew about $48.2 million on its opening day at north American box office, which includes the $17.5 million in Thursday previews. The film is expected to earn $110 million to $120 million over the weekend in the US, making it the second-highest opening of the year, behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was at $146 million.
The estimated weekend figure for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, however, will still be lesser than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which had grossed $146.5 million in 2017, Variety reported. The film stars an ensemble cast that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan and Sean Gunn, among others.
In India, the film is facing stiff competition from The Kerala Story, which clocked an opening of Rs 8.03 Cr India net and followed it up with a jump in collections on Saturday, with Rs 12.50 Cr India net.
