Usha Uthup wants to collaborate with popular singer and Bhoomi frontman Surojit Chatterjee.

Indian pop legend Usha Uthup wants to collaborate with popular singer and Bhoomi frontman Surojit Chatterjee where she will lend voice to the God-gifted lyricist-singer-composer-lead band singer’s new numbers.

Launching the Folk-ira number,the continuation of journey after Surojit-o-Bonddhura here,the

One Two Cha Cha Cha singer said,”There is no other way we can go further in life than collaborate with people (we vibe well).”

“Ami Katodin dhore bhabchhi (I have thinking for so long!” Uthup said before joining the chorus for the ever-popular Bhoomi number,bearing Surojit’s trademark style,’Kande Sudhu Mon Keno Kande Re’.

Uthup crooned “Why Do you cry! When my heart is full of love!!” as Surojit sang the lines of the Bengali chartbuster in early 2000 part off Jatra Suru album having sold millions with Surojit among the lead.

“Is there anything more purifying than music!!! Let Folk-ira with tracks like Jibon Re rule our hearts forever!!” the ‘Ramba Ho’ crooner said.

“It is a privilege to collaborate with Ushadi. I don’t know how the whole thing will shape up. We will sit and discuss. We should really think about something which will connect with the audience in real sense,” Surojit said.

‘Ichhe’ director Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyaay,whose ‘Alik Sukh’ has also recently been acclaimed,said,”Who will not wish to have Ushadi and Surojit together for musically contributing in my future film?”

“Shibu has an uncanny grasp over music and tunes in films. Which song suits which situation he understands perfectly. Let’s see,” Surojit said.

Surojit,who wishes to direct a musical and rates the ‘Sound of Music’ as his most favourite,said with today’s denim-wearing,smart phone savvy generations sporting centuries old wedding gear but settling for modern menu at the receptions,fusion is everywhere including music.

“We have settled for certain special instruments to re-design and re-invent certain folk songs in the album retaining the essence. These albums are our exploration to do something new in different genres of music which is not always possible within the parameters of a band group. Both can thrive successfully and parallel,” he said referring to Bhoomi.

Surojit,whose Kobita Club forum on FB had received kudos having enrolled hundreds of budding poets,said,”They are my strength. We keep meeting on FB. Some of them travelled long way from places like Asansol to be with me at album launch. Some of the contributions to Kobita Club are so invigorating,we would love to include in any future album project for sure.”
