Thackeray’s daughter in-law making film on Babri demolition

Smita Thackeray is making a film on the Babri demolition controversy.

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s daughter-in-law,Smita Thackeray is making a film on the Babri demolition controversy.

“I have had 5-6 meetings with actor Aamir Khan and he has given his creative inputs for the script. I have spoken with Ajay Devgan,who is now in London to feature in the film,” Smita said.

The announcement of the film,titled ‘Babri’,comes two months after the Supreme Court asked the Sena supremo to spell out his stand on a CBI plea for the restoration of charges of hatching a criminal conspiracy to demolish the Babri Masjid in 1992 against him.

Asked if the film would portray the stance of the Sena and its chief on the Babri issue,she said there was no political angle to the film.

“My film is about the common man’s point of view. On how he sees the whole subject.

On the idea level,Aamir has supported us a lot,Smita said. He appreciated the intention with which I am making the film,she said. He is busy with other projects and won’t feature in the film,she added.

“The bound script is ready and we launch the film in 3 months. I expect to finish the film in a single schedule and release it before the final verdict on the Babri case is announced,” she said.

“I was thinking about this subject for a long time and I want to put my views in a cinematic way,” she said.
