Shweta Basu Prasad’s Digital Playlist: Wild Tales will keep you on the edge of your seat
Shweta Basu Prasad's Digital Playlist: This week, National Award winning actress Shweta Basu Prasad recommends Academy Award-winning film, 'Wild Tales'. It won in the category of best foreign language film.

Human mind has way too many shades. It would be so boring if this world was all sugar and gloss, just happy, colourful lives. People singing songs is not always the reality. Just like happiness and love, people also feel wrath, jealousy and vengeance! All of us use crutches of popularity amongst friends, society, social media for self-importance. People go to any extent to feed their ego, even if that means to show someone down, self-destruction or to kill someone.
Revenge is poison. But just like all bad habits are easy to adapt, revenge too, like drug, calms and soothes the wild mind. This week my recommendation is 2014’s Spanish black comedy WILD TALES, an anthology film of six individual short films with the common theme of violence and vengeance, written and directed by Damian Szifron, available on Netflix.
Logline: Six stories of revenge and retribution make up this anthology of darkly comic tales involving road rage, infidelity, poison and civil disobedience.
Warning: Rated Adult. Contains: nudity, language and sex.
The film starts with an airplane story where all the passengers seem to know one particular person, it turns out that the pilot is that person, and all the passengers are the ones who had hurt him at some point in his life, the story ends with the plane crashing at the pilot’s parents’ backyard. The following five stories have the common violence and vengeance theme, although completely distinct. From a bride discovering that her groom had been cheating on her at their wedding or a road rage of two drivers fighting each other for over taking (personal favorite), this film doesn’t let you blink your eye and keeps the audience at the edge of the seat.
Wild Tales won BAFTA Award for best non-English film, Academy Award for best foreign-language film and the Palme d’Or at the 2014 Cannes film festival. The film rates 8.1 on IMDB and 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. You cannot miss the wild tales this week.
