Ramaiya Vastavaiya Composer: Sachin-Jigar Lyricist: Priya Pancha Ratings: * 1/2 Out of Tune After listening to all the six tracks that Prabhu Devas romantic comedy Ramaiya Vastavaiya has to offer, the levels of disappointment have soared so much that one feels that watching the film, too, will be a drudgery. Music composer duo Sachin-Jigar,who impressed us with their soulful Saibo in Shor in the City, the peppy Party abhi baaki hai in F.A.L.T.U and the quirky soundtrack of Go Goa Gone, have come out with a rhythm-clattering and disastrous score in the film. This is exactly the soppy and sometimes jarring music that plagued the late 80s and some part of the 90s. The song opens with Aatif Aslam and Shreya Ghoshals Jeene laga hoon, which hinges itself on a basic melodic hook line and has trademark Aatif plastered all over it. The song, which does not use Ghoshals vocals properly,is however, catchy, melodic, and the only saving grace for the album. This is followed by Mika Singhs Hip Hop Pummy, created to be a catchy item song but comes with this overused drum loop and an effort to touch the bhangra beats but fails miserably. The duo try to create some magic with Bariyan, which is definitely a ray of hope, and a track with soft beginnings followed by a folk and hip rock approach and interesting folk beats. Ghoshal gives it a mellow beginning with her soulful vocals. But then comes incredibly painful and nasal voice of Aslam. One of the only songs that could have had some scope of coming out of the scores dullness is not able to break the shell despite a decent tune and good arrangements. Peecha choote by Mohit Chauhan has the inherent problem of a dreggy melody and just does not work. Rang jo lagyo has a great arrangement, the right use of instruments at the right time and the emotionally charged quality of the song shines for a bit,but falls in the second half as the track just becomes repetitive. Jaadoo ki jhappi by Sonu Kakkar and Mika is a bit of unbearable din. This one had us mired in confusion about what are the composers intending to give us here. Hopefully,Sachin Jigar will give us the soul we got in the absolutely gorgeous Saibo.
