After facing below average television ratings,Amita Ka Amit, which was just 10 months old is finally going off-air. The Siddharth Kumar Tewary production venture will be making way for Poonam Dhillon’s show, which is said to be on the lines of the Sridevi-starrer English Vinglish.

When contacted Dhillon for more details about the show, she said,“The show focuses on a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship. But unlike other soaps on TV,this one brings to the light,a fact that two women can co-exist peacefully in the same house.” Krystle D’Souza, who was recently seen in Ek Hazaroon Mein Meri Behna Hai,will be seen playing the daughter-in-law,while actor Sooraj Thapar has been roped in as Poonam Dhillon’s husband.

Like Sridevi’s character in English Vinglish,Dhillon, who plays a Gujarati saas, will be seen pursuing further education (thanks to her cordial bahu).

Dhillon who’s making a comeback to television with this Sony TV offering, was one of the first Bollywood personalities to take to TV. Her first project was Andaz, which ran from 1995-97. She is also best known for her role in Zee TV’s Kittie Party.
