Indian born supermodel Padma Lakshmi is all set to star in a US comedy which revolves around the life of a woman working in the culinary world. The NBC show tentatively titled 'Single Serving' starring the model-turned-cook book author attempts to cash in on her popularity as the host of the superhit reality show 'TopChef'. The news comes just as Lakshmi scored an Emmy nomination in the reality competition host category. The 38-year-old former wife of Booker Prize winning author Salman Rushdie has signed a deal with Universal Media Studios which will create the series,reported Variety online. The supermodel's acting credits include the Bollywood film 'Boom',Aishwarya Rai starrer 'Mistress of Spices' and Mariah Carey's 'Glitter' where she plays the diva Sylk.
