No bare body, biceps for John Abraham in Madras Cafe

And contrary to reports, there are no real life RAW agents in the film.

As far as John Abraham goes, grit is in! After an action-packed act in Shootout At Wadala,Abraham gets into combat mode with his forth- coming film Madras Café in which the actor will be seen playing a RAW intelligence agent.

The first theatrical trailer of the film was unveiled at a press conference held at Cinemax Versova in Mumbai.

The film, directed by Shoojit Sircar of Vicky Donor fame,is a political-thriller based on the civil war in Sri Lanka, with India-Sri Lanka relations forming the backdrop.

Contrary to the image that Abraham has,Sircar has given a completely different look to the actor in the film. Refuting reports about real RAW agents playing bit roles in the film,Sircar says that,“It is a very realistic film; there is no jumping from a train or car. All the characters including John and Nargis Fakhri are very realistically portrayed. And there are no real life RAW agents in my film.”

So,while there will be no flaunting of bare body or biceps, the brief given to John, reveals the director, was that he has to look like a normal person and merge with the crowd, while at the same time keep a sharp look out for any unnatural incidents, like a real intelligence agent at work.

Nargis Fakhri plays the role of a war correspondent in the film and to prepare for her role,Sircar had provided her with a lot of war news footage from CNN,BBC and Reuters.

“I had asked Nargis to read articles by war correspondents and gave her a lot of news reels to prepare for her role. She also had to undergo a workshop where she learnt how to elicit information and interrogate people and how intels are kept,” said Sircar.

Talking further about the film,Abraham said at the launch,“I think Madras Café is India’s Argo. I can’t say that this film is like another Hindi film. It’s a complete clutter breaker.”

For Madras Café,Abraham has yet again collaborated with Sircar’s production house,RisingSun. “After this, people will understand that as a team,Shoojit’s company Rising Sun and JA Entertainment, are serious about the kind of film we want to make,” the actor said further adding,“I don’t know whether the film will do a business of ’20 crore or ‘ 80 crore.

I just know that we have made a good film. I don’t think any of the 100 plus crore films are necessarily the greatest films, right?”

Madras Café is slated to release on August 23.
