Katrina observed Priyanka Vadra for Raajneeti
If you think actress Katrina Kaifs poise and demeanour in the promos of Rajneeti look familiar, you are right.
If you think actress Katrina Kaifs poise and demeanour in the promos of Prakash Jhas Rajneeti look familiar, you are right. The actress says she watched election campaign videos of Congress president Sonia Gandhis daughter Priyanka Vadra to get the body language right in the upcoming political thriller.
Priyanka is a young, strong, independent and modern leader with the right blend of values. My character is not based on her. I just watched her campaign videos to observe her and how she interacts with the crowds, says Katrina.
The 25-year-old actress reiterates that her character is not based on Sonia Gandhi, and that her look is not modelled on any politician. Prakashji himself chose the sarees I wore as a politician. Everybody knows that I spent my early years in England and my mother is English.
Even Sonia Gandhi has a foreign connection. So the comparison was logical, she reasons. Katrina reveals that she had initially planned to refuse the film. When I first heard the script,I made up my mind to turn it down. I felt this was not my kind of space. The political aspect of her character comes in much later in the film, she explains.
Indu, refuses to accept that the person she loves does not reciprocate her feelings. She has no self-respect in love. In real life, all of us experience rejection, sometimes in hurtful ways. I was as honest to myself as I could be while playing Indu, she says.
Another parallel Katrina draws is between the characters of Rajneeti and those in the epic Mahabharata. Both the characters in the film and the epic share the same traits and complexities, she points out.
