Fox delays Abhishek starrer ‘Dum Maro Dum’

Fox Star Studios and Ramesh Sippy had announced that the film would release in the first week of February.

The release of Abhishek Bachchan-Bipasha Basu starrer ‘Dum Maro Dum’ has been postponed – the film will hit screens on April 22 next year instead of February.

Sources said that film bosses opted for the Easter weekend instead,as February is usually the examination time for youngsters.

Earlier,Fox Star Studios and Ramesh Sippy had announced that the film would release in the first week of February to coincide with Abhishek’s birthday on February 5.

After their successful collaboration in ‘Bluffmaster’,this film marks the coming together of director Rohan Sippy and Abhishek,who essays the role of a fearless cop in the film. “It has shaped up very well and the audience should get ready to enjoy a gripping,moving film with great visual appeal. The colors,feel and sounds of Goa are further complemented by music composed by Pritam and lyrics by Jaideep Sahni,” producer Ramesh Sippy said.

“We are in the midst of researching the film amongst various target groups and are excited with the response that we are getting. It has a great script,it’s vibrant and contemporary,and we expect the film to appeal to multiplex and single screen audiences. Since Easter is a big holiday weekend,it will provide a great release window in India and across international markets,” says Vijay Singh,CEO,Fox Star Studios.

The movie is an exciting stylish thriller which races through the by-lanes,beach shacks and raves of India’s largest tourist destination Goa,Rohan Sippy said,adding that the film promises to take the audience on a trip that will have them on the edge of their seat.

“Populated with unforgettable characters,punctuated with a soundtrack that moves from haunting Konkani songs to pulsating dance music,the film is shot right in the midst of the international tourist hotspot,” said Rohan,who also directed Abhishek in ‘Kuch Naa Kaho’.

Besides Abhishek and Bipasha,’Dum Maaro Dum’ Rana Daggubati,Prateik Babbar and Aditya Pancholi in major roles.

‘Dum Maaro Dum’ is written by Shridhar Raghavan and co-produced by Ramesh Sippy Entertainment and Fox Star Studios.
