Bob Geldof contemplated suicide after split from wife Paula Yates

Sir Bob Geldof has confessed that he was almost on the verge of killing himself after his 20 years marriage with Paula Yates broke-up.

Geldof,59,said he battled “universes of grief” and the only reason he restrained from taking the extreme step was because of his young daughters Fifi Trixibelle,Peaches and Pixie.

“I made a list of reasons to live. There was only one item on it: the children,” the Sun quoted the Live Aid activist as saying in a radio interview.

“I was beyond depressed. When she left I was distraught. I loved her very much and I didn’t understand why. I never saw it coming,so I just floated.

“The pain was beyond intensity,the grief was universes of grief. My head was crowded with loss,” he added.

His television presenter wife left him for INXS hunk Michael Hutchence in 1995.

With the support of a close friend,the former ‘Boomtown Rat’ later found some solace in music and went on to meet his current partner,French actress Jeanne Marine in Paris.
