Zareen Khan says working with Salman Khan was ‘intimidating’, comparisons with Katrina Kaif ‘backfired’ on her career: ‘I was a lost child’
Zareen Khan made her acting debut opposite Salman Khan in 2010 film Veer. She was last seen in the 2021 film Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele.

Actor Zareen Khan recently held a ‘Ask Me Anything’ chat session on Reddit and shared her experience of working with Salman Khan. The actor also opened up about how she was compared to Katrina Kaif in her early days in the movies but that eventually backfired for her.
During the Reddit AMA session, a user asked Zareen to give her honest review about working with Salman. The actor, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman in the 2010 film Veer and later did a special dance number ‘Character Dheela’ with the actor for the movie Ready replied with just one word. “Intimidating,” she wrote.
The actor was also asked about her resemblance to Katrina Kaif as many dubbed her as Katrina’s look-alike when she made her debut in the movies. The actor answered the question earnestly and revealed how it never occurred to her that this comparison would go against her.
“So when I entered this industry, I was literally like a lost child since I don’t come from a filmy background so it made me feel really happy being compared to Katrina as I was her fan too and found her really pretty. But it backfired on my career as the people of this industry didn’t give me a chance to prove my individuality,” Zareen wrote.
After Veer, Zareen did more films like Housefull 2, Aksar 2 and 1921 but failed to make an impact with her work. She also did regional films like Punjabi film Jatt James Bond and Telugu film Chankya. Reflecting on the problems that stop actors from proving their mettle in the film industry, the actor said what she hated the most about the film industry was, “People working on the basis of friendship rather than talent.”
The actor also clarified a user’s belief that she had many connections in films. When asked why she didn’t appear in more films, despite having many connections in Bollywood, Zareen replied, “NO … you are mistaken …. I don’t really have a lot of connections in the industry and I also don’t really know how to do small talks.”
She was last seen in the 2021 film Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele which released on Hotstar.
