Yo Yo Honey Singh says he broke his year long sobriety at Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding: ‘For me, not drinking means having two pints of beer’

Yo Yo Honey Singh has been very vocal about being dependent on alcohol and other intoxicating substances before his mental health took a toll and while the rapper has said he doesn’t consume any illegal drugs anymore, he recently shared that he broke his alcohol sobriety at actor Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding. The artiste said that after going through a rough patch with his health, he had quit drinking but picked up the habit again secretly in 2021. He then quit once again but recently, at Sonakshi’s wedding in June, he ended up consuming a lot of alcohol and was quite drunk by the end.

In a chat shared on The Lallantop’s YouTube channel, Yo Yo Honey Singh said that he does consume beer once in a while but he had stopped consuming hard liquor like vodka and whiskey until a few months ago. “I hadn’t had vodka in over a year. I landed here for Sonakshi’s wedding. I was very happy to attend her wedding in Mumbai. As I was going in, I declared to the paparazzi that I will dance without drinking today. I said so because I had not been drinking for a year,” he shared and then proceeded to share how he felt like drinking once he was at Sonakshi’s reception.

“I went for the wedding. Everyone was there, it was Sonakshi’s wedding so I said ‘laao aaj (bring it on)’. After having more than half a bottle, I was up on the stage. There wasn’t even a stage there, just a DJ console. I took the microphone and I just flipped her party. Then I drank even more,” he confessed and added that as he got out of the venue, he saw the paparazzi stationed there even though he was visibly drunk. “When I got out, the paparazzi were there and I was drunk,” he said.

In the same chat, Honey confessed that for him being sober was equivalent to having a few pints of beer once in a while. When the interviewer said that sobriety is often seen as a state where someone does not even have a drop of alcohol, Honey laughed and said, “For me, not drinking means having two pints of beer.”
