Indian actress Celina Jaitly rose to fame after she starred in films like No Entry, Shakalaka Boom Boom and more. But after making a name in the film industry, she chose to lead a quiet life with her Austrian husband, Peter Haag. Now, Celina has filed a case against the man she once described as a “thorough gentleman,” accusing him of domestic violence. So who is Peter Haag, and how did their relationship begin? Who is Peter Haag and what is his net worth?

Peter Haag is a hotelier born and brought up in Austria. He is an entrepreneur, hotelier and brand strategist, and after working in Austria and Singapore for quite some time with renowned hospitality groups, he moved to Dubai to work with Emaar Hospitality Group. Many reports claim that the hotelier has an estimated net worth of $2.3 million, which roughly translates to Rs 167 crore. However, this figure cannot be independently confirmed.

Celina, meanwhile, is also fighting for the release of her brother Major (Rtd.) Celina Jaitly’s career

Celina came into the limelight after she won the Femina Miss India title in 2001. She made her acting debut in 2003 opposite Fardeen Khan in Janasheen. She went on to star in films like No Entry, Heyy Babyy, Jawani Diwani, Apna Sapna Money Money, Golmaal Returns and more. She was last seen in the 2020 short film Season’s Greetings.

How did Celina and Peter meet?

In an old interview with iDiva, Celina revealed she met Peter Haag in Dubai when she was in the city to promote an Indian brand. She had said, “I met Peter for the first time in Dubai. I was there for the store opening of the Indian fashion brand I endorse (Jashn). I met Peter through a dear family friend. It was a family gathering at a wonderful lounge and Peter was also invited to it. There was an intense recognition in a part of me when I first saw Peter. Actually we did not speak anything to each other but I just knew from the moment he walked in that he was my husband even though we had never met before.”

Celina shared that after their meeting in Dubai, Peter came to Mumbai in 2010 and then proposed to her at her residence in the presence of her family. “The fact that he is a thorough gentleman and has the most deeply mesmerizing eyes in the world attracted me to him,” she had said.

Celina and Peter’s marriage

After a small ceremony in India, the couple tied the knot in a hush-hush ceremony in a 1,000-year-old monastery in Austria in 2011. She had posted pictures with her new husband, father and brother-in-law on social media, and was seen wearing a saree for the ceremony.

When Celina and Peter’s infant died

Celina and Peter became parents to twin boys in 2012. But the couple faced heartbreaking tragedy after Celina gave birth to a second set of twin boys in 2017, where one of the babies died due to a heart defect. In the same year, Celina also lost her father.

She shared the news on Facebook and wrote, “The Gods above have blessed us yet again with another set of very handsome twin boys ‘Arthur Jaitly Haag’ and ‘Shamsher Jaitly Haag’ in Dubai on 10th September 2017. However, life is not always how we plan it to be. Our son ‘Shamsher Jaitly Haag’ succumbed to a serious heart condition and could not continue his journey in this world.”

What has Celina accused Peter of?

Celina filed a complaint alleging severe emotional, physical, verbal and financial abuse by Peter Haag, “to the extent that she was forced to flee” their home in Austria in the middle of the night and return to India on October 11, leaving her three children behind. She alleged that Peter has blocked her from all access to her children.

In her plea, Jaitly is seeking a monthly maintenance of Rs 10 lakh from Haag. She has also sought Rs 50 crore compensation for loss of earnings due to the alleged abuse, and another Rs 50 crore as additional compensation.
