Sujoy Ghosh has portrayed the character of ‘Ahalya’ played by Radhika Apte, as a sensuous beautiful woman with a mysterious element that keeps you hooked on to the trailer.

Portraying strong female protagonists is an art that only a few directors can create. A real example of that was given by Sujoy Ghosh in Kahaani (Vidya Balan) and the filmmaker is all set to recreate it in the woman centric ‘Ahalya’. The epic thriller short film, as the name suggests, is a blend of old mythological scriptures, with a modern twist.

According to folklore, ‘Ahalya’, one of the most beautiful woman created by Brahma was cursed by her husband and sage Gautama after he accuses of her having an illicit relationship with the king of gods Indra. While there are many interpretations to the story, Sujoy Ghosh has portrayed the character of ‘Ahalya’ played by Radhika Apte, as a sensuous beautiful woman with a mysterious element that keeps you hooked on to the trailer. Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee too plays a prominent role in this Bengali short film.
